Adapted - How do you differentiate instruction for all the diverse students in a class? There are some that have outstanding skills, others that have little or no skill, and others with disabilities. I don't want the students with disabilities to stand out. What are some activities the whole class can do, or how can instruction be differentiated? Please answer in the forum.
Coaching - If your school hires a male head coach for their girls varsity team, do you think its necessary to have an assistant female coach? Please share in the forum.
Elementary - Having taught middle school PE for 7 years I am now making the jump to elementary and need some help. I have plenty of resources and games, but I am uncertain as to the order in which to teach those activities. Of course every one is different but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.   Health, Fitness & Nutrition - I know that when starting a new work out routine, it can be hard to do because most people want results right away, and it is not that easy. As future physical educators, we are going to have overweight children in our classes. We can tell them how important it is to be physically active and how it will make them healthier, but unless they see results right away, they might get discouraged. What do you think would be a good way to go about handling the discouragement that could potentially face many overweight students? Please share in the forum.
Interdisciplinary - This week I read an article by Thom McKenzie and Jim Sallis that addressed the time challenge physical educators face. Here's what they suggested:

"To better serve elementary school pupils, schools might consider modifying the role of specialists to take on new duties - as consultants."

They then described how PE teachers could help structure the entire school environment to encourage all students to find ways to stay sufficiently physically active on a daily basis.

Should future PE teachers be trained to be both instructors and consultants? Should we be concerned less with conducting lessons ourselves and more with training other teachers in our schools to integrate movement into their lessons?

This is a role we have been considering adding to our professional preparation program. I am interested in readers' thoughts and especially any personal experiences others might have acting as "consultants" within the school setting. Please share.

Secondary - I am currently a student at Slippery Rock University majoring in PE. As a PE teacher, do you have the choice to pick your own curriculum, or does the school give you one and you can change some things as long as you stay within the guidelines? Please share in the forum.
Technology - I was just wondering if anyone has tried to use the Nintendo Wii sports games in their classroom. I haven't personally played these games, but I have heard good reviews about how fun they are and that they are also a great workout. These days I think that we need to use the technology out there in order to get and keep kids motivated about physical activity. If you have used the Nintendo Wii I would like to hear your thoughts on the system. Please share in the forum.
