Do you believe that physical educators should spend class time trying to integrate academic content into their lessons or should they focus on teaching skills and developing health-related fitness?

Terri: I have worked with several physical educators who were quite skilled at blending academic content with their daily teaching. It does not have to diminish the teaching of skills or the overall amount of activity. The research is very sound that combining movement/skill/and academic content solidifies all forms of learning. That it takes time and effort to structure lessons goes without question, but there are lots of leaders in this field from whom you can learn. It worked for me as a teacher and I know that it worked for my kids...they learned more in all areas and showed much greater interest in class. Joe Herzog
