Currently my 4th -6th graders do not change their clothes for P.E. class. They have changing rooms and are required to change their clothes in 7th-12th grade. Does anyone think that 4th grade is too young to start changing for class, or is it the right age to start taking on more responsiblity?

I think that as children 4th-6th they could start taking on responsibility for the things that they do. However, I do not think that they should have to change for the physical education classes in elementary school. That would take up either their regular teachers class time, or it would take up the physical education teachers class time. Physical education class time is limited in most schools to only one hour per month. So when it comes down to whether or not 4th-6th grade students should start to take the responsibility of changing their clothes for physical education class I am going to say no. If 6th grade is considered Middle School then yeah they could start changing, but as long as the students know they have physical education class that day and dress in tennis shoes and something comfortable to run around the gym in before then I do not see why they would need to change. Kids sweat, but at that age it doesn't seem to be much, and if it is it doesn't seem to bother them.
