The college across the street from the school I work at has a ropes course. Would this be a good idea to consider for a unit or would there be to much safety concern? Would I have to send a note home to parents for them to sign so they know what their students would be doing? |

I think that ropes course would be a great idea. You could emphasize the whole idea of working together and being a team. Everyone has to be involved and agree with each other for an activity to work. You would need to send home notes to the parents so they are aware of the idea and approve of it. |

The ropes course would be a great idea to do with your students. You should first have lead-up activities before attempting the ropes course. Start with some simple trust building activities to see where your students level of trust is at. I wouldn't recommend just jumping on the ropes course before doing these types of activities. There are definitly safety concerns but your students should be able to handle it. That is why it is good to start off with the trust building activities first. |

A ropes course is a great way for teachers to incorporate outdoor activities into their lessons as long as they are trained to do so. |

My middle school had a high wall, high beam, and a rope climb and I enjoyed every minute that my class got to use them, so a ropes course is a great idea. Remember to go over the safety procedures and commands with the class as well. |

I think that's a great idea. As long as you take the time to prepair your students for the activities and go over the safety factors it would be great. Maybe giving your students a quiz so they know what they are doing and do some skills testing of the equipment would help the students feel more comfortable with a ropes course. |

We actually have a low ropes course at our school and I love it. You do need to do lead up activities prior to using the course so that students are safe and master the basic skills. The benefits for a low ropes course are endless. |
