when I was in high school anytime my teacher was out they just put the PE class in a study hall. Does anyone have any idea for teachers that are not physical educators to teach the class so that the students are not sitting all period?

Well the school district decides wether or not students are allowed to engage in physical activity, for the concern of student safety.

I don't know what you could to about actually making them do phyiscal activity but you as the teacher could leave an assignment for the students to do when you were not there. It could be on the skills that you are teacher or on a health topic. You could even have the students watch a movie on the skills that they will be learning in your next unit. That way the time was not wasted and it wasn't just a study hall.
