Some aquatics programs are moving in a new direction. Fly fishing is a new sport that some schools are trying out. Along with fly fishing, water polo, kayaking, and canoeing, what are some other water sports that could be taught in an aquatics program and what age level would be appropriate to teach them in?

I was on the rowing team in high school and it was one of the most gratifying and fun things I have ever done! The work out is so intense and it is a full body work out which is great for students! It's also great to get students outside and on the water. The only thing is crew is an expensive sport but if you ever have the chance definitely try to get it as at least a club sport!

You can also incorporate water aerobics. I have used this and found that the students and even adults enjoy the class. Water aerobics incorporates a total body workout and like lifting weights you can rotate body workouts to upper body one day and following the next day with a low body workout. Water Aerobics allows you to expand your activities with different equipment and the types of exercises you want to use.
