HECAT, PECAT, and SHI Workshops Available from the CDC
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH), has created the DASH Training Network, or “D-Train,” a national cadre of master trainers to provide workshops on how to use DASH school health tools. We are pleased to announce the availability of workshops designed to help those who work with schools to improve health policies, programs, and curricula.
Comprehensive workshops on the Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT), Physical Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (PECAT), and School Health Index: A Self-Assessment and Planning Guide (SHI) are now available to be scheduled in 2009! State or district agencies and organizations are invited to submit a request for a workshop.
For selected sites, CDC will pay for all of the expenses associated with the trainer (e.g., travel expenses, lodging, per diem, honorarium). Site coordinators are responsible for funding and securing workshop logistics, including the facility, materials, and refreshments. Sites are also responsible for marketing the workshop in their area and conducting pre-registration.
Workshops should be a minimum of 4 hours in length to ensure in-depth training. SHI workshops may be up to 8 hours in length; HECAT and PECAT workshops can be up to two days in length, depending on the needs and level of readiness of the participants. Most workshops will be held as part of a state professional development meeting or in conjunction with a state or regional conference. Workshops should fall between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.

Release of newest SHPPS 2006 Product: District Report Cards
CDC/DASH has announced the release of the newest SHPPS 2006 product, a set of District Report Cards, which summarize results for each DASH-funded district presented by school health program component. This product is available electronically at:
