The person in this position will function as a Health Scientist in DASH's Research Application Branch, providing consultation on scientific and technical issues related to the relationship between health disparities and adolescent and school health, developing program policy and guidance for the Division and its funded partners, and planning strategies to manage disparities-related activities. The incumbent will serve as an expert on the prevention of chronic disease, particularly among adolescents from disproportionately-affected populations.

Functions will include: identifying issues and knowledge gaps where research and prevention strategies can be strengthened; providing leadership and technical assistance on planning and conducting research, implementing prevention programs, and training activities relevant to health disparities and adolescents; providing leadership in the development, formulation, and evaluation of health disparity-related policies and programs; and leading and coordinating activities to translate and disseminate research findings into effective interventions and research application products for adolescents and schools.
