CDC-DASH is seeking applications for a Health Scientist (GS 12/13) in the Research Application Branch focusing on obesity, physical activity, and nutrition. The position is currently open, applications will be accepted through Wednesday, April 7th. Applicants must apply through the USA Jobs website; the link to this position on the website is below. The incumbent is responsible for providing the technical and scientific planning, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of activities directed at improving efforts to prevent the most serious health risk behaviors among children, adolescents and young adults in schools and communities. In addition, the incumbent will provide technical expertise on obesity prevention and intervention strategies to other branches in DASH, divisions in NCCDPHP, Centers in CDC, Federal agencies, public and private health and education agencies, and organizations working at national, state, and local levels.

Additional responsibilities include: Initiating broad, national efforts to ensure that research findings on adolescent health are translated into comprehensive school health policies and programs; identifying effective programs and gaps in research; using research synthesis to detect findings not revealed through individual studies and communicating these findings to the research and program fields; serving as a technical expert in the development and execution of national dissemination plans to help schools implement research synthesis findings; preparing and submitting manuscripts, reports, and training materials for presentation at scientific meetings and for publication in scientific journals; and performing other duties as assigned.
