In school the children are not allowed to use their ipods and mp3 players during study halls. Recently, they students have started to ask if they can use their ipods during p.e. class, when they are performing fitness activities. The high school p.e. teacher told them that they could, if they do not like the music that she is playing. Does anyone think that this is sending mixed signals to the children, and what are your thoughts on whether or not the children should be allowed to have these in school?

I believe that this is sending mix signals to students, however if by allowing students to listen to their ipods and mp3 players actually encourages them to productively participate, then I would allow them to use them. I would ask for approval from the school administration before permitting students to do so.
