I just finished my field day with barely enough volunteers to make it run smoothly. Our system (kids bringing volunteer request forms) clearly does not work very well. Does anyone have a better system, or a better way to ensure plenty of help for field day? |

I also send home a "hard copy" request forms. This year I have started doing a lot over e-mail. Parents are more likely to receive the news when you don't have the students relaying the information home. It also makes it a lot easier for me to keep track of who is helping and where I need more help. Now of course not everyone has e-mail but most people do have access at home or work. Try it out next time and see if your volunteer response is higher! Good luck! |

Nothing to do with technology but I use high school students to help with my field days. They like the opportunity to get out of class, of course, but they also like to work with small children and they usually are really helpful. I do a crash course before the children show up and then I just roam the field making sure everything goes well while the HS kids run things at each station. |

I have the teachers at the school run the stations; as I wonder around and make sure everything is running smoothly. The students love to show off all their skills! Some teacher dread this day while others love it. But if they all have to do it then no one will complain, well to me |
