Just wondering if anyone out there has used interactive Power Point for presentations in class? What did your students think of it?

During my flag football unit i give a 20 question quiz on the skills and terminology. It only takes 5-6 minutes but the kids seem to like it. Normally i get the whole "This is pe not english class" comment, but with it being interactive it seems to hold their attention well. |

Interactive powerpoints seem like a great way to incorporate technology into the PE curriculum. I just learned how to make one in my technology class and I'm excited to have the students try one. I don't think that I would taken time out of their PE class to complete the powerpoint, but the computer teacher at my school is always looking for ways to teach across the curriculum. |

I have used power point presentations numerous times in my classes. They can engage students especially when you take the extra time to "animate" the slides. When they see the animation you get the ooohs and aughs from your students.
As a teacher, I love to use the power point. It does take a lot of extra time to develop the ppt file the first time but I have that power point file for the following years. I have found that I can pull out a ppt presentation on a moments notice to avoid showing videos on bad weather days. This also helps me to develop better content to meet our state standards.
Currently I have ppt files for:
* Short/Long Term Benefits of Exercise
* Effects of Water/Dehydration on the boday
* Learning the Major Muscle Groups
* Components of Exercise (Currently developing)
I would highly recommend using a projector while using ppt presentations. This will allow all of the students in your class to view the screen. You can also hook up the computers to a TV (using a scan converter) but it can cause you to lose some of the information on the edge of the TV screen. |
