Rather than post a question, I just wish to share a web page on Palm Technology. It's a frequently asked question page, and there are questions on how this technology can be used in regard to physical education, as well as other academic areas.

Please review this page, and use this thread to expand on the use of Palm Technology (your methods) in regard to your PE class and/or coaching.

I use my palm m515 just like I would use a pencil, paper and a clipboard! I teach k-5 p.e at this time. I have re wrote our entire curriculum to become palm pilot friendly. I assess all our our skills with it, fitness test results, inventory, attendance, you name it, it can be done on the palm. I use filemaker pro in my computer as the database and filemaker mobile II as the conduit between the computer and the handheld. I have created all of my own layouts or programs or forms and virtually send out lots of information at the push of a button. I may assess skills on running, rolling, kicking etc... in my palm, down load it into my computer and then pull up the form that I want to send the information home on and at the push of a button, I can print 500 individual, personalized assessment reports to parents. It is awesome! You have to make the forms yourself so you need to put time in on the front end of this project, but you can personalize it to fit your school's needs. I use fitnessreporter pro for my fitness assessments which facilitate the presidents challenge etc... but it also has a program that you can design yourself. I download that into my palm, put the fitness scores on it, load it into my computer, (like in 3 seconds for 500 kids) and then I can print out beautiful fitness reports that give percentages, how to better your scores etc... If you can dream it, you can make it. You can even set programs to calculate so it you want to use it as a grade book or figure out pedometer steps into miles.
