Subject: AAPAR Executive Director position announcement

As many of you may already know, Jan Seaman has announced that she will
be retiring as Executive Director of AAPAR in early May. Please review
the job announcement below for the Executive Director of AAPAR, our
newest association, and consider this opportunity or pass this along to

Executive Director
American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation

The American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPAR)
seeks applications from those qualified to serve as the Association's
Executive Director. AAPAR an association of the American Alliance for
Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), is
headquartered in Reston, Virginia, near Washington, D.C.

The AAPAR Executive Director provides professional leadership and
administrative support to the AAPAR Board of Directors; develops and
implements plans for fund raising, grant and contract procurement;
serves as an advisor, consultant and resource person for professionals,
and; represents AAPAR and AAHPERD as a spokesperson on professional
issues pertaining to the interests of AAPAR; and manages day-to-day
operations of the association.

Candidates will demonstrate a combination of the following:

1. Advanced degree, doctorate preferred, master's required. (one
degree in areas served, recreation, kinesiology/physical education).
2. Experience in promoting, lifelong physical activity and
recreation (e.g., administrative, educational, professional).
3. Excellent oral and communication skills.
4. Demonstrated skill in fiscal management including the ability to
oversee and manage association budget and secure external grants and
funds.
5. Strong facilitation of program development to generate
association programs and products.
6. Understanding of and capability for association management and
service, including appropriate administrative and interpersonal
capabilities.

Salary depending on qualifications. Qualified candidates should submit a
