PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Slippery Rock University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track
position in the Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) Program beginning August 2007. Slippery Rock University is nationally recognized for excellence in preparing physical education teachers, a program that supports over 400 undergraduate majors, a M.Ed. in Physical Education and a Wellness and Lifetime Activity program for the University's Liberal Studies requirement, and minors in aquatics and
coaching. The physical education major is NCATE accredited.

Qualifications: ABD required (Doctorate preferred) in physical education pedagogy or a related area. Completion of Doctorate required no later than August 2009. Master's degree in related field and Bachelor's degree in Physical Education required. Experience working with children in a school setting. Evidence of scholarly competence through publications and presentations preferred. Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration is required.

Responsibilities: Undergraduate teaching in one or more of the
following areas: elementary physical education methods, student teaching supervision, and may include other theory and activity classes, student advising, and teaching in the PETE Master's program. Model "best practices" in a standards-based program, conduct and publish scholarly work, grant writing, support and facilitate an innovative curriculum and service typical of academia.
