I played Sitting Volleyball at a PE Mini-convention. It was pretty fun, and you could use this to adapt to kids that aren't able to move around very much. Also, there are several different short sided games on the internet that deal with modifications for the less skilled volleyball player.

Last semester I took a class called Sport and Disabilities, for my Adapted Minor, and I did a powerpoint presentation on sitting volleyball. This is a great game for people with amputees, spinal cord injuries, people in wheelchairs and also people with cerebral palsy. It is a very interactive game for those who are not able to play standing volleyball. The court is smaller, net is lowered, and the athletes play sitting on the floor. There is also a libero player who is used in the game of sitting volleyball to help, whenever needed.

There are many websites games on the internet that deal with adapted volleyball and other sports. You can use lowered nets, modify the rules for example letting the ball bounce before it is hit or allowing students to catch it then hit it out of their own hand. There are also many things like balls with bells in them for a visual impared child or you could use a beach ball because it is lighter and easier to hit. There are tons of ways to change any game just takes a little creativity.

I am teaching an adapted lesson in my adapted P.E. class. We are starting with a warm with balloons where students tap the ballons while walking and stretching their muscle between each set of 4 taps. We are playing a game with large beach balls and a low modified net. and for a cool down we are going to do a relay with balloons again. Mostly if you just use balloons and large beach balls you can be creative with the activity.
