In high school I had a girl in my PE class that was in a wheelchair. I had about 35 kids in my class. When we did certain activities my teacher would make her sit out because she was in a wheelchair and the teacher didn't think she could participate. I don't want to do that when I am a PE teacher so I want to know how I could modify some activities in class. For example jumping rope so that someone in a wheelchair can participate.

I agree that the student should be involved no matter what the disability. Some activities are hard to adapted however. I think setting up stations with multiple things to do is the best way to handle it so the student can pick one of the activities they prefer. when it comes to jumping rope they could hold the rope and turn it, that still gives them something to do.
