I am going to be teaching a unit on pass patterns in football and was wondering if anyone had any unique ideas for some drills I could use as well as any helpful teaching cues when discussing the critical elements.

One drill that helps with reaction have students get partners. have one be the receiver and the other the quarter back. Have the receiver jog in a straight line. After the receiver has gone about 10 feet, the quarter back will say GO and throw the ball. When the receiver hers GO he/she will turn and run back towards the quarter back and catch the ball.

You can have them get 5 or 6 lines- 3 to a cone.
Have one hike the ball, one be the quarterback, and one the reciever. Teach them basic patterns-
button hook, stop and go, fly, slant. Have them practice being the reciever, the center and the quarterback. Demo each pattern before having them try it. Important to note- have the receiver BRING the ball back to the cone each time, not throw it randomly back to the group.

What age(s) and/or grade level(s) are you teaching? This would be important to know before recommending any drills.
