I was looking into being an assistant coach this fall for high school soccer, but most of the schools I have been looking at already have a head coach and an assistant coach. That's the way it was when I played in high school, too. I feel like having three coaches for high school soccer is too many, does anyone have any input on this? Can you have too many coaches?

i cant give any input on soccer but i can do input on basketball and i feel it can still be similar. for coaching when thinking of assistant coaches it depends on the size of the team, and the make of the team. for larger teams it is beneficial to have assistant coaches that have more experience in specific areas. for soccer i would assume having an assistant coach that specializes in goalkeeping or defense would be beneficial because then it allows for specific attention to specific players. in basketball a team with only 12 players per team it is normal for teams to have 1 head coach and 2 assistants normally a coach that is more offense based knowledge and the other defense. so i would say if you have a specific area that you can teach to take a chance and talk to the school's head coach and see if there is something that can be worked out.

Having 2 coaches is the best method to me. Having to many cases you to bump heads to much.
