I just recently became in charge of helping coach a swim team and this will be my first coaching experience so i don't have much to go on. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on good workouts for the team to do or if splitting the team up to do workouts is a good idea. also any ideas on warming the swimmers up would be really helpful too. and the team has younger children up to high school level and should the practices be the same or different. Thanks for any suggestions!!

Hello Milan, I was a swimmer in High school so maybe I can help you out. For warm-ups we would norman swim 200yds, kick 200yds, and then do off-strokes for 200 yds. As far as the distance that can be lowered by age but the different strokes and kicks seems like a pretty standard thing. Practice workouts is a little different. It would be good to split the kids up, you don't want someone who can swim a 24 second 50 doing the same workout as someone who can only swim a 30 sec, and visa versa, one wouldn't be working hard enouhgt, and one working too much.
