When drug testing at the high school level, why do most schools only test student-athletes, and not the other students? In my opinion, I feel as though the students who do not participate in extra-curricular activities are the ones doing drugs and other illegal acts. I do not think it’s fair to single out athletes because they are most likely the ones to test negative for drug tests. So my question to you is: Do you think drug testing should be for all high school students, or just the athletes? |

Drug testing in high school should be for all students that want to participate in school sponsored activities not just athletics. The high school I attended only tested athletes and those students who wanted to drive to school. Each student had to take one mandatory test at the beginning of the year with the possibility of random tests throughout the year. Testing should be expanded to include students who choose to participate in other school activities such as marching band, cheer leading, school plays and musicals. It would just be too expensive to justify testing every student. |

I agree that drug testing should be for all students in high school and possibly middle school. For the athletes and non-athletes that get caught, I think they should be kicked off the team and be disciplined by the school and by the law. Yes i agree it will be to expensive, but will definitely help them out in the future. |
