What is the best way to motivate players, not for games but for practice. I find that it is very easy to get players ready on game day, but very difficult to get them ready for practice. They seem dull and falt. Is there something that should be changed about the practice or a different type of drill that should be done.

When i coached i found out that the kids were much more motivated and excited about practice when you would start with drills that they enjoy and can still be serious about. This way it gets them ready in a fun way. Drills such as competitions always get a kid having fun while competing at the same time!

I found that when I was in high school, I played basketball and when I would go in to the school for practice, I would see the girls team practicing before us while listening to music. The coach would instruct the drill to do such as lay ups from the right side, then he would turn on the music while they did the drill. It seemed like so much more fun to have music while practicing.
