Do you think that high schools should mandate conditioning before the actual practices start for the season? I believe that this would help greatly in injury prevention as well as overall physical fitness. What do you think the benefits are?

I think it is a good idea to encourage conditioning and provide the opportunity, but to mandate it might have some complications like lengthening the season. Since it is high school, not college or pro, you might have to start off the season with evaluating the condition of the athletes and start from there.

I believe that it is a good idea that althletes train ealier before the season starts. However, I do not think that it should be mandatory. If you make the conditioning mandatory, it may interfer with other sports that an athlete may have. I agree with you in how it would greatly help in injury prevention. It would also allow the team to bond sooner, especially if it is a team sport, such as soccer.

I played 4 sports in high school and conditioning was mandatory for all of them. I had to miss a lot of the conditioning because the other seasons were not over yet, but every sport required it. Football had 2 a days and basketball had a "hell week" that were both strictly for conditioning. If you want to be preparing for real games and practicing hard it cannot be done without being conditioned. To complete at a high level and practice properly conditioning should always be required before the season starts. It doesn't even have to be before the season starts or making the season longer. The first week of the season should be spent conditioning. You can still do plenty of skill drills that require constant running to work both skills and conditioning also.

I know when i played baseball in high school we had a vigorous conditioning program. It was not made mandatory, but everyone should be there if they wanted to coaches to know them. I think conditioning programs are a great idea, it gets athletes ready for a long rigorous season.

I think conditioning definitely will help athletes and is necessary. Without proper conditioning you’re not able to perform up to your full standards. Every part of your game will improve when you are in shape. Also being in good shape will help you to outperform your opponent and therefore defeat them.

I always had a conditioning program for soccer with certain things to do during each week of the off season. It greatly improved my ability to stay healthy the whole season. I feel it is important to have off season conditioning because it prepares you for the season and helps you become less injury prone.

I think conditioning before the season starts is a great idea. I feel it would give high school students an idea of what they are getting into before the start a full season. Also it can give the coaches an early chance to get an evaluation of the athletes and can modify his training program if needed.

Yes, i believe that conditioning before a sports season is a good idea. Especially if it is the only competitive sport that a student decides to take part in. It prepares them for what is to come during the regular season and puts them in a better position for a successful season. If a coach decides not to have training before the season starts, the season typically turns into a train wreck, unless the athletes were already conditioned from previous athletics that they took part in. so, yes i think that it helps with injury prevention, overall physical fitness, and it helps with getting a good team chemistry before the season takes off.
