How do students react to things in pe that don't fall under the "normal" category for Pe Activity and how do u get them excited about doing something like Yoga in Pe?

I think that students react to new things either with a positive attitude if they want to learn more or a negative attitude if they don't care to learn. I think in order to get them excited about yoga or any other activity, you need to continue to try new things with the class and hopefully they will develop an interest they never knew they had before.

I believe that most students would be very interested in venturing into new subject topics beyond the basic sports skills and game play. I believe that incorporating something like yoga into the classroom would be very beneficial. It may show the students a different way to be physically active, beyond just running the track or playing a sport. It may also show them ways to cope with stress, and to relax them which would be helpful to a lot students especially in the high school setting. I think it is important to go beyond the "normal" categories to keep things interesting, and motivational.

I have been teaching aerobics in my high school for 4 years now. However in those 4 years the term has branched to yoga, kickboxing and this past year zumba! You have to go with what the students need and want! Yoga is for all ages, all body types and will keep them flexible and positive and stress free. After doing yoga for only a day the students wanted to do it for the remainder of the 3 week unit! Don't be afraid to ask your colleagues to help you or go to a class in your community to see how others are teaching it and get their perspective!

I think incorporating those things are great! I expecially like the idea of Zumba, it is so much fun and I am sure the kids enjoy it.
I help out in a special ed class and the kids love the dancing dvd's
