NASPE is happy to announce the release of the first PE Metrics book, a new series which will provide a wide variety of assessment tasks to measure student success in physical education. The first book, Standard 1 Elementary, contains assessment tasks at the Grade K, 2, and 5 levels. It also contains a CD of the assessments and a Dartfish DVD of each assessment task showing the competent performance level and video vignettes of some common errors. These assessments are valid and reliable measures of student progress in achieving competency for skills and movement patterns that are appropriate for the grade level. University level measurement classes and methods classes will want to list this book, and the subsequent books for other levels and other Standards, as a required text. It is an excellent resource for courses that will discuss assessment of skills. Future physical educators will keep this book as a teacher resource, as a tool for measurement, and as a template to develop future assessments at the K-12 level. Contact Carol Byrne for bulk orders to have this book placed in your university bookstore. cbyrne@aahaperd.org Or simply direct your students to the NASPE Online Store.
