What is the best way to introduce rope jumping for grades K-2, 3-5?

How about important skill cues? Thanks.

Make sure they have the correct size rope first of all. When standing on it w/ 2 feet it should come up to their arm pits.

I start w/ having the rope behind the students in their hands and tell them to keep their elbows in and just bring it over their head and no jumping. When the rope is at their feet I have them step over and then repeat. This gives them a feeling of success and then I have them keep going and try to go faster.

Once they get that I sometimes have them grab both handles in one and and have them twirl the rope to their side and every time the rope hits the ground they have to jump. Little more coordination for this though.

Good luck
