I am wondering if some of you could recommend a curriculum for grades K-3 Health. I am not happy with what I have. Please give me the pros and cons of what you use.

Hi Stephanie: I have not found many good packaged health programs, but the one I like best and have piloted, is "The Great Body Shop". You might google it and go to their site with the materials on it. The only problem is that it is expensive and you have to purchase materials every year.

If you would like, you can e-mail me at gamato@spfldcol.edu and I will ask our health faculty for some recommendations as they will certainly know of more resources for lesson plans and can recommend materials that may be free or inexpensive.

For an HIV/AIDS poster, non-sexual for elem. age children, written in verse that can generate a healthy discussion on this topic on the social aspects of the disease, visit my website, www.pehealthsite.com for a full description of the poster. Nurse's tend to like it for their office also. E-mail me if you want any information I get from our health faculty. Enjoy your teaching, Mr. Amato.
