In a situation where there is not a lot of funding at a school, are there any games or activites that can be played without the use of equiptment. (other than it-tag)?

There are many variations of tag that can be used. Amoeba tag is a fun one that most kids enjoy. Have either 1 or 2 people be the "amoeba" to start. Holding hands, the amoeba run and try to tag people. once a person is tagged, they join the amoeba until it grows to 6 people. Once 6 people are in an amoeba, they can break off into 2 separate amoeba of 3. This continues until everyone becomes an amoeba.

Thats just one variation. Go to pecentral.org and look at all the other types.

A fun tag game is called cat and mouse tag. It only uses some equipment and you could easily make what you need for your class. All you need something that resembles a flag football belt with one flag hanging off the back of it. You start the game with two cats and these students are not wearing the belts. They have to chase down the mice and take there tail. When a tail is removed from one of the mice they then become the cat (it). I like it because its not just one person or two people being it for the duration of the game. It changes up a lot throughout the entire time the game is going on. One way you could have your students moving more is by adding more cats by removing tails as the game goes on.

One other game that is simple and needs absolutely noting is clothes pin tag. All you need is about 3-4 pins for each student. Have the students place the pins on the back of each others shirts. When the game begins the students race to take the pins of off each others back and put them on the front or sides of their shirts. The student with the most pins on the front and back of their shirts at the end of the time period is the winner. Clothes pins are not that pricey and easy to replace if broken.
