I've been teaching ELEM PE for 14 years and I've finally gotten to the point where I've learned something. In all the years prior, I've never trained the kids how to come into the gym. They come in all crazy because that's what we get to be in gym class.
But on day one, I train them how to come in. And we work on it for at least 4 days in a row. We also get training on how to ask questions and what happens if we interupt the teacher. Granted, it doesn't stick with all the kids, but it does with most of them.
Start early and stick with it. Don't be afraid of letting the kids experience the consequences of disobedience. |
