Mrs. Obama has recently got involved with helping the childhood obesity. She was on CNN latenight with David Letterman and said how horrible it is to see the rising numbers in type II diabetes in children. Do you think it is appropriate for her to be involved in physical education and childhood obesity?

It is profoundly appropriate for Mrs. Obama to use her status as First Lady to be of benefit to children. Obesity (the result of sedentary living/poor nutrition) is the single biggest problem facing this country. It affects virtually everything: Health Care, the armed forces, the budget, job productivity and success in academics.

And it shouldn't be just Mrs. Obama, it should be every American demanding more and better PE in the schools, more corporate responsibility in a variety of practices and the involvement of the medical community, just to begin with.

I've already written her a lengthy letter as I know several of my colleagues have also done. EVERY physical educator in the country should have ALREADY written her. There is lot's of talk about physical ACTIVITY, but little mention of physical EDUCATION. Why are'nt we on top of that?

If you have not contacted the First Lady, PLEASE do so, ASAP! Thanks.
