When I am at home for summer, I run a tennis camp for kids 5th through 9th grade and I often get frusterated with them while trying to teach them the game of tennis. What can I do to increase my patience with them or does anyone have any fun games you think I can play with that age group that would be beneficial? |

You can play a game called "jail" where all the kids start on one side of the net in a line and you feed them a ball one at a time. If they make a successful shot on the other side of the net then they get back in line. If their ball goes out or hits the net then they have to put their racket down and come to your side and try to catch a ball hit by another player. If they catch a ball then they switch spots with that player. The games goes on until their is only one person left. Hope that helps. |

it really depends in how many campers you have, how many courts, balls, etc.
It is crucial to get them to rally the ball as soon as possible, that is where the fun begins.
you can play many games that include rallying the ball, such as 4 square, rally ball (instead of winning or losing the point, each time the player(s) hit a ball over the net, they get a point). around the world. play ups and downs, king of the court, etc. Choose and/or modified games according to your students needs and development so they can experience success.
