What is the youngest some of you have taught or at least used the pickleball equipment? I'm trying 5th grade down to 2nd grade. The 1st and K I've been using the hand as a paddle, then paddles/racquets made out of hangers and nylon stockings.

What games have you played with the 3rd and 2nd grades if you've used pickleball paddles, but not taught the game?

I use Bounce and Dribble drills, Wall drills, (Volley and Rally), I teach 4-6 Badminton (which they love). I use balloons with the younger onces and also let the student toss and catch with a scoop first as a prior learning experience. I also teach striking first which helps to teach eye=hand coordination necessary. I teach as a game, One wall racquetball/Squash/Paddleball/Pickleball, (whatever you want to call it.) With 4-6th grade I have the student do a peer assessment of the Forehand, backhand and overhead/serve. Breaking down the skills into parts using proper technique cues. They then grade each part as well as the whole based on a 1-5 scale.
