What is the best Criteria to use to grade PE students? In other words, what is the difference between an A student and a B or C student?

I have always been told that your useing technology such as heart rate monitors, then by documenting how many minutes they are in their heart rate could be a good indicator and can show that the student is activly participating enought to get the grade posted. If you do not have heart rate monitors, then i would sudgest an over all participation and improvement status througout the year if the student and all the accumlative assignments and tasks.

I have a rubric that I developed to use on a daily basis whether I am doing informal observation, or a skills test. It is a scale of 0-4, and has worked well for me. It's flexible enough so it can be applied at all grade levels.

Like David, I use a rubric of 0-4. Works great. You can see the report card on my site: http://www.blaine.k12.wa.us/bes/bespe/Report%20car d/report%20card%20index.html

Dan thanks for sharing your rubric! I really like the way it is designed. I can see how helpful this is when assigning grades.

Is there an easy way to calculate a student's BMI using their height and weight measurements?
