So I was reading somewhere that a lot of schools have been sending newsletters to parents regarding the status of their children in their physical education classes. My question is, is it a good idea to send out such letters and should they be addressed individually or as a whole class? I don't see it as a bad idea but I also don't know how many parents respond to that. Just want to get other people's opinions on what they think or to see if anyone that is teaching now sends out newsletters. Thanks!

I have sent monthly PE newsletters home for six years. They are a very effective way to reach each parent with information about skills/ sports students are learning as well as basic health, nutrition, and exercise information. It's a positive way to communicate with parents. I include recognition for students/ classes that are exceeding expectations. I also send letters home to parents on an individual basis regarding student behavior and grades. I usually attempt to phone a parent, but if that is unsuccessful for whatever reason, I send a letter.
