The school that I am student teaching at has modified block plans where they have and three hour and a half classes 2 days a week.

How can I keep these children motivated to participate for that time span?

That's pretty harsh for a physical education class.

I'd use water breaks effectively. I'd also look at dividing up the class time into large chunks. You could have a fitness time of 60 minutes but break that up into a nice, easy, long warm up time followed by the fitness. Then give the kids a break before moving into a skill development section. I'd create activities that require them to develop their cognitive knowledge of a skill in addition to their physical development of the skill.
