During some units or specific activities many teachers use the principle "challenge by choice" for their students. For certain grade levels it is appropriate while working with equipment such as low and high ropes courses, but when does it go to far? When is this appropriate and inappropriate to use? Is there a specific age you should or should not use this principle? What do you do when some students take advantage of it?
