I have always heard that in order to build muscle you need mass amounts of protien and nothing else really matters. Recently though, I have read about carbs and protien and fats as the things you need to build muscle. I was wondering if anyone could clarify this for me. What is the best way to build muscle while still eating right?

When trying to build mass, carbs and good fats are just as equally important as protein. Protein is obviously important and you want to consume almost double your body weight in protein. Complex carbs are important to take throughout the day so your body is constantly slowly digesting them which keeps your metabolism moving all day. You should take in simple carbs in right before and right after your are about to workout. Simple carbs will help react and digest faster to give you energy and for post workout, it helps to rebuild muscle that you just broke down. Good fats are essential in the diet as well as you should be eating different types of nuts, taking fish oil or eating fish etc. are good types of fats.
