In the past, steroid use was seen mostly in college, Olympic, and professional sports. Today, steroids are being used by athletes as well as nonathletes, in high schools all over America. Most major professional and amateur athletic organizations have banned steroids for use by their athletes. These organizations include the International Olympic Committee, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and the National Football League (NFL). However, when students are in High School, they are not tested for the use of Anabolic Steroids. Does anybody else see a problem with this? If we do not allow adults and professionals to use them, then why do we allow students to use them? Students in High School should be drug tested for steroids. A student that is on steroids in High School could seriously injure a less mature High School student. Also, Physical Educators should address the issue of steroids in their class, and make sure the students know that it is wrong.

I agree. There are many athletes at the high school level who would not have excelled so much in high school sports if they were not using steroids. I know when i wrestled there was individuals who took steroids to help them gain strength and lower there body fat percentage but they would not have been nearly as successful without them. This just takes away from the kids who are all natural and who have worked so hard. Not to mention that the steroids will only harm their bodies in the long run.

I have actually never heard of high school students getting caught with steroids. Im not saying that they dont use them but if they do i agree, steroids afect the whole body and also take years off of a persons life. no one should use these things since they are not ment to go into the body. After puberty, the body is pretty much done with the humane growth hormone but by introducing a steroid will bring that state of mind back and affect the body in a bad way.

I agree 100%. If we do not allow professional athletes to use steroids or other performance enhancing drugs, then students in high school should not be allowed as well. Students should be tested in high school for use of roids because they are definitely getting an advantage on other students who are natural and work hard to accomplish things in their sport.

I agree with this. High school students, especially athletes should be tested for performance enhancing drugs. All though high school there were certain teams who's players from sophmore to junior year would gain upwards of 30-40 pounds. Yes, it could be gained naturally since at that point of a kids life is where a lot of physical developement occurs, but how can you be sure. I think they should be tested, not just to be fair to other teams, but to protect them from hurting themselves later in life.
