Well I always keep snacks like Special K bars or 100 calorie packs in my kitchen. That way, if I am running late to class I can grab one of them while i'm walking out the door incase I get hungry. Also, it is a good idea to keep fruit cups, veggies or yogurt handy. Fruit and veggies are the perfect snack and seem to be filling as well!

I think having baked chips and salsa is good to have around as well as microwave popcorn! Also, cans of corn or string beans are something good to snack on during the day.

I think healthy snacks to keep in the dorm include nuts (unsalted if possible or try to brush the salt off). This is a healthy source of fat and protein and keeps you full inbetween meals. Getting Fruit and Yogurat are great ideas. You can get mini Yogurt that are 80 calories (Dannon Light&fit)they give you a good amount of yogurt in the container. This will give you calcium, vitamin D, protein and carbs. Watch the sugar in the Yogurts esp with the fruit in them. Protein Shakes aren't bad if you get a protein powder low in calories and fat.

If you have a refridgerator yogurt, celery, carrots, string cheese and cottage cheese are great foods to have around. If you do not have a refridgerator you can keep apples, oranges, bananas, high fiber bars, and granola around. these foods are not only healthy but can also help keep you full!

I'm a huge believer in eating healthy during the college year. In my refrigerator I always have yogurt, peaches, and other kinds of delicious fruit for snacks. My breakfast usually consists of different Special K cereals and egg whites. For dinner, I usually have grilled chicken or salmon burgers on the George Foreman. If you have the money, I would definitely invest in buying a George Foreman grill. They make cooking so much easier. If you have microwave access, bagged veggies are always good to have. Its not very hard to eat healthy in college. The hardest part is putting your mind to it, and telling yourself to eat healthy. It can be done though!!

If you truly want to keep the weight off during the college or any time in your life, the first thing you should do is cut out any bread, pasta, or beans from your diet. These foods contain high amounts of carbohydrate and many other harmful chemicals that most of the population has no idea of. Yes, even whole wheat breads and pastas are bad, not matter what anyone says. Once you have successfully done that take on full force of the Paleo diet. Meat, veges, fruit, nuts and seeds. If you eat these things and no processed foods or sugars you WILL NOT have to count calories again. These are the foods that we as humans are designed to eat and can digest the easiest and provide our bodies with the most available nutrients. Don't forget to go organic!
