More and more we see kids that fall asleep in classes. Do you think this is because they are bored or do you actually think they are tired from biological processes in their bodies? What can be done to improve the attention span of our students? This is mostly seen in middle school and high school students. Should schools start school later?

I definitely think it is biological. Many students lose track of time in the evennings because of staying on the internet too late or texting friends. Teens need to understand the necessity of getting 8-9 hours of sleep each night.

I believe it is both biological as well as the fact of scientific studies. Students are staying up later and later than what they use to but at the same time studies have shown that if schools were to start an hour later than what they do now that both alertness, attention, and grades all improve.
