I know that when I was in grade school, I would always pack a lunch because there were never very many healthy food selections on the menu. Adding whole grain foods and more fruits and vegetables would be ideal. Cutting back in french fries and soda would be ideal as well. Are you aware of any nutritional food changes taking place in primary or secondary schools? If so, what are the changes that are being implemented?

I agree, I teach 7-12 and there are not many healthy choices on the lunch menu at school today. Even the food groups are not balanced well, and the snack lines are always the longest. At our school soda pop is not allowed to be purchased or drank during the school day. We also have fresh fruit and veggie cups for sides rather than fries. However, I still think we are far from where we should be in this area.
