What type of cardio exercises either warm-ups or lessons would be a fun but effective way to get the entire class involved, but also a good work-out.

I think that any type of aerobic workout is always good. I know that recently alot of schools are teaching their students pilates. Pilates may seem like its more of a meditation/relaxation, but really it is a great workout and gets students heart rates up.

A good warmup game for the entire class is "Knee Tag." Seperate your class into pairs and intruct the students to try to tag their partners' knees without letting their partner tag theirs. Be sure to tell the group not to get carried away and that this is just a warm-up.

Their are lots of cardio exercises that can be fun for kids. We have done everything from tag games like fitness tag which incorporated other exercises (push ups, sit ups, etc.), card games where each suit represented a different exercise, running and leaping over small hurdles, running and jumping at flags hanging from basketball hoops and so forth. If you offer varitey in your warm-ups it seems to increase students motivation and participation levels.

Another fun cardio exercise that involves the whole class is dancing. If you teach your students a few dances (disco dances, its electric, the train) they can get their heart rate going in a way that involves music and is fun.
