Welcome back to school! I hope your summer vacation was both relaxing
and educational.
For the theme of Back to School, I present to you two interdisciplinary
ideas for class management and two resources for integrated curriculum,
which may not be new to many of you but are huge repositories of
activities and teaching tips.
This column marks the end of my section editor tenure with PE Links.
After 3 years, it is time for new ideas and new blood. I wish
all of you well and best success on the start of the new academic
year.

Managing and Teaching with Music |
They say music can soothe or tame the savage beast. If you
have or want to prevent management problems or simply wish to integrate
physical education content with music, consider the offerings at
Songs for Teaching. Be sure to check out the short article
"Implementing music in the classroom" by Eric Jensen to get you
started. Then surf to some of the following pages, where you'll
find lyrics and links to sound clips, downloads, and for -purchase
songs related to: (a) Management issues (transitions, 20 songs;
clean-up, 3; lesson opening, 11; closure, 10); (b) Movement (73);
(c) Food & Nutrition (31); (d) Sports, Games, & Rec (10);
and (e) Health & Nutrition (22).

pdf format related to Movement (Chapter 8, Standard 2.5, 60 pages)
