I now create my health presentations {what used to be lecture}
in PowerPoint. I jazz them up with graphics, which I scan
from the student text, and show the presentations on a 32" television
monitor in our classroom {connected to my DELL laptop}. Hint...the
smallest font pitch to use is 32 pt. If you use anything
smaller, the students have trouble reading it from the back of
the room. I also create a note packet {copies of the
slides with blanks} for each student to complete during the presentation.

SMILE
Lab, or Sensory Motor Intensive Learning Environment was created
by veteran educator Ralph Barrett. His Lab has generated amazing
results for students. By utilizing sensory motor skills, children
actually enhance their brain power - "hardwiring" their neurological
pathways. Students' test scores are higher, athletic abilities are
enhanced and some miraculous results have been shown with ESE students
having Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Autism. |
 |
This site discusses what
research that has been conducted and what types of results were found. |
 |
Information can also
be found about how to start a lab of your own. |
