Get Strong 101 is the most incredible compilation of drills that I have seen in a DVD format. This DVD has it all! Drills for the upper body, lower body, balance, agility, quickness, speed, core and drills with bands that are categorized and presented in a straight-forward manner. Each category includes two to six drills clearly demonstrated by student athletes with Judy Howard cuing them through proper body alignment and technique. Drills are arranged in a progression that allows greater and lesser challenges among your participants' varying abilities. I love the way the DVD shows a demonstration of a few games, which utilizes a number of the learned drills integrated into a coach-led workout, athlete-lead workout, or a partnered workout. Also included are five minute, ten minute and fifteen minute sample workouts, along with the ability to download blank workout prescriptions. This is a great way to organize and use the skills and drills immediately.

Navigating around the menu of skills and drills for the first time may seem a little daunting, so I suggest you watch the DVD in its entirety once to become acquainted with how the drills are presented and how they are categorized. If you take the time to become familiar with the drills, you will more easily be able to add fresh, new, and effective drills to your existing routine or design a completely new workout routine. No fancy equipment is needed. The use of the medicine ball and agility ladder shown in the DVD can be simply substituted with any playground ball, tape or chalk.

Get Strong 101 is not necessarily intended for any one age group, even though the student athletes that do the demonstrating are Middle and High school age. Judy does such a great job of encouraging and instructing that she would no doubt be a great motivator for all ages. From my perspective, as an experienced group exercise instructor and private trainer, this DVD offers a fresh way to present exercises that strengthen and tone, challenge balance and core, and incorporates group exercise class formats. It is also suitable for use in private training sessions.

Upper and lower body strength training, balance, quickness, speed, agility, and core work all promote functional conditioning. Functional conditioning, one of the new buzz words in the industry, refers to a purposeful conditioning of the body for a higher level of sports performance and improvement in the basic movement patterns needed for everyday living. Therefore, every age group, athlete, and non-athlete can benefit from the drills included in this DVD. Each new drill will build on the body conditioning developed from the previous drills, so participants perform at the level presented that is appropriate for them. Check out this DVD, it's chock full of serious fun!
