STEPHEN
JEFFERIES: In 1998, interest
in the emerging Internet motivated
Dr. Jefferies to create a page of
professional links intended as a
resource for his pre-service teachers
at Central Washington University.
Growing interest in these links
by other teaching professionals
led him to create the web site pelinks4u
in 1999. Since then the site has
undergone several transformations
in publishing frequency and size.
Early
in 2005 the site averaged close
to 1500 individual visits daily
and over the month witnessed visitors
from more than 80 countries. In
the pelinks4u archives
there are currently over 1500 pages.
Pelinks4u is a non-profit
program sponsored by the CWU Foundation
and supported by a variety of companies
and organizations connected to the
physical education profession. Dr.
Jefferies continues to coordinate
the monthly creation of seven pelinks4u
section pages by more than 30 volunteer
editors.
Dr. Jefferies
is originally from England receiving
his undergraduate degrees at St.
Lukes College and the University
of Exeter. He later completed graduate
school at the University of Oregon.
Since 1986 he has taught at Central
Washington University located about
2 hours east of Seattle. Steve is
the creator of several instructional
videos and for the past 7 years
has served on the Ellensburg School
District Board of Directors. He
created and continues to organize
a youth unicycling and juggling
program, and is active in a variety
of outdoor activities. His recent
acquisition of a 30 foot sailboat
means that you will most likely
find him somewhere on the waters
of the Puget Sound whenever he needs
to escape from the computer. |

TERRI
COVEY: Terri is the Web
Support Specialist at Central Washington
University, and incorporates the
work involved with pelinks4u
into her regular working hours,
working as the pelinks4u
webmaster.
Terri
began working on this

originated, working as webmaster
for well over a year. The work was
assumed by someone else later in
2001, although Terri was responsible
for redesigning the site, the design
used until December 2007. She resumed
responsibility as webmaster in October
2004, and continues work as the
pelinks4u webmaster until
the current time. Steve Jefferies
and Terri have recently joined efforts
to change the structure of pelinks4u
to deliver information in a more
usable and friendly manner. Change
is ongoing so feedback and suggestions
are welcome: steve@pelinks4u.org
or coveyte@cwu.edu.
Terri's
main interests are creating sophisticated,
need-based, customized Web applications/tools
that can be used through a browser
(that performs as custom tailored
software), and also her grandson
who is almost 5 years old, smart
as a "whip," bilingual,
and a real 'hand full' whom Terri
has raised from an infant. |
