As a first time guest to PELinks4U, I am very excited to see such
a wealth of Physical Education information being shared. The technology
information is full of beneficial information for a Physical Education
teacher.
Sometimes it is difficult to determine how to apply technology
to PE, PELinks4U makes it more manageable.
KUDOS!

Palm Fitness
Ideas
Deb Pluck from the University of Maine at Farmington has sent
some wonderful links for Palm fitness ideas. The web page of resources
includes the topics of exercise & fitness, fitness testing,
diet and nutrition, medical & health, and a general section.
PDA's are so much easier to have out in the field and there are
more and more applications being developed for physical educators.
BAM! (Body and Mind)

questions on health issues and recommend ways to make their bodies

Help for Search Engines
There are many search engines available to find information on
just about anything. Sometimes a search will bring back hundreds
of hits, sending the seeker on a quest for the just the right information
they were looking for.
There is help for teachers looking for lesson plans and ideas to
add technology into their curriculum. MarcoPolo
is a new educational website that produces lesson plans for
subjects across the curriculum, including Physical Education.
Once in MarcoPolo, the guest can do a Power Search to look for
various items relating to Physical Education. It is great at offering
lesson plans in Dance. It also does an excellent job at offering
culturally diverse and adapted plans. It fails though when doing
a search for games.

Physical Education Web Sites |
Reebok Univ
www.reeboku.com
WOW!! Want to see a fantastic web site for fitness. Check out Reebok
University. My favorite part of the side is "The Body 360.
If you select this section you will find out more about the human
muscle system. You can select the male or female figure. Then rotate
the body to see all sides. Select a muscle group and you will get
a diagram of the muscles, a description of the muscles, the function,
strengthening exercises, stretching exercises, a featured workout,
and any related articles. You will see diagrams of exercises for
that muscle group and can also see a video clip to ensure proper
form. There is so much information contained on one well-organized
site.
Intel
www.intel.com/education/unitplans
The Intel Innovation in Education program is a great resource for
finding theme-based unit plans that integrate technology in lessons.
Go to Download and Unzip a Project Portfolio and put in a physical
education, fitness, sport, or health topic. You will find:
complete unit plan, student product examples of a PowerPoint, newsletters,
and web pages, teacher support materials including calendars, PowerPoint
direction for assignments, assignment guidelines, and grading rubrics.
