New Orleans Snippets !

Healthy Hearts for Kids is a really exciting web-based instructional model that is currently being tried out in West Virginia and New York State. It is essentially an instructional unit of study about cardiovascular health which is delivered via the internet. The program has thus far been developed for Grades 4-5 and currently the developers are looking into creating modules for other grades. Should you be interested to learn more about this module contact info@healthyhearts4kids.org.

An Achievement Based Curriculum (ABC)was another interesting presentation pertaining to the utilization of an ABC model which is a logical, step by step process that integrates program planning, assessing, implementation, teaching and evaluation. Check out the latest publication of Vincent Melograno and Luke Kelly, here.

In August 2004, the Olympic Games return to Greece for the first time in one hundred years. The ideals associated with the Olympic Games of the modern era: joy in physical endeavor, fair play and international friendship, are just as relevant and important today as they were one hundred years ago and particularly since many of our children today follow sedentary, inactive lifestyles, and face a physical activity crisis, and new challenges for developing respect for others in a global, multicultural society. Join educators from around the world as they explore and share the theory and practice of converting Olympic values such as fair play, international understanding and participation in physical activity and sport into interesting and useful educational programs for children and youth.

Pre Olympic Congress Sport Science through the Ages : Challenges in the New Millenium , August 6-11, Greece, Thessaloniki, Aristotle Campus. Program Highlights include topics related to competition for young children, issues of fairplay and more. Program details can be viewed here.

The Official History of the Modern Olympic Movement: Do you need Olympic Resources for your program? Perhaps through an application for grants your school library can obtain
these incredible resources that can provide scope for both your PE program and cross-curriculur learnings.
